Choice Menus

The Middle School turned in some really nice projects from their choice menus for the month of February.  Many of them chose to do an acoustic using books they had recently read.  Nicholas Callegan turned in a wonderful book cover of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Middle School - Images

The Middle School ALPHA students are working on Images.  Images, a book in the Multiage Differentiated Curriculum Kit for Grades 6–8, asks students three main questions: What is your image, what image do you want to project and can you change or manipulate your image?  In addition to personal images, photographic images are studied in detail, both historically and scientifically. Also, propaganda is examined through visual and written images. Students will go back in time and explore images that were popular during different time periods. This investigation will require students to research the advancements in technology, as well as how these advancements impacted popular images in history.  This curriculum unit makes use of the following great children's literature books:

  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, unabridged;
  • Photos That Changed the World by Peter Stepan; and
  • Carver: A Life in Poems by Marilyn Nelson.

We are so excited for the new school year and want to welcome all the new students to SEAS!  We spent the summer clearing the library to get ready for all the new books that were purchased with Scholastic Book Fair Money from last spring and from all the wonderful donations that we received over the summer.  SEAS is ready to READ!!
